About Watchd

Choosing what to watch should not be this hard.

Watchd exists for couples, friends and families who spend more time scrolling than watching. We wanted to build something simple, social and fun that helps people actually make a decision.

Too many apps. Too many choices. No decision.

Streaming gave us more choice than ever, but it also made movie night harder. Watchd cuts through the noise by learning your taste, connecting you with your people, and helping you find something worth watching faster.

Built for real life Partners, families, friends and groups trying to pick something tonight.
Made to decide Not endless information. Just better ways to choose what to watch.
What we believe

Watchd is built around three simple ideas.

Less scrolling. More watching.

The app should get you to a good choice quickly, without another night lost to endless browsing.

Your friends matter.

The best recommendations often come from people you trust, not anonymous ratings or crowded databases.

Movie night should be fun.

Choosing what to watch should feel exciting, social and easy — not frustrating or repetitive.

What Watchd is not

We are not trying to be IMDb.

IMDb helps you look things up. Watchd helps you decide what to watch. We are not here to overload you with trivia, ratings and endless information. Watchd is built for the moment when you sit down and ask: what should we watch tonight?

Kit
A note from Kit

I built Watchd because this problem happens everywhere.

The idea for Watchd came from one of those nights that probably sounds familiar. The children had finally gone to bed, and my wife and I just wanted some downtime together. Nothing complicated, just sit down, relax, and watch something good. But instead, we spent nearly an hour and twenty minutes scrolling through different apps, trying to agree on something. Netflix, Prime, Disney+, the usual back and forth. By the end of it, we still hadn’t picked a thing. So we put on New Girl again, which we love, but it was probably the hundredth time. The next morning I woke up thinking: I don’t want that to keep happening. We waste enough time in life as it is. I didn’t want us wasting the little downtime we get just aimlessly scrolling and not making a decision. That is why I created Watchd. I wanted to build something that helps people find something they actually want to watch, faster. Something that works for couples, friends and families. Something that makes movie night feel easy again.
